Generating & exporting the record
How to generate the defense record, what it contains, and how to export or share it.
Want to understand the record in depth? Read the product page on the record.
When can I generate the record?
At any time — before, during, or after a case is complete. The record is a snapshot of the event chain at the moment it is generated. Generate it early to establish a baseline, generate it at any dispute point to capture the current state.
How do I generate the record?
From the case detail page, click "View record." The record is computed from the event chain and displayed immediately. From there you can export it as a PDF or copy the shareable link.
What does the record contain?
The record contains four sections: Determination (a plain-language summary of the case state and fault attribution), Full timeline (every chain event in order with timestamps), Outstanding items (a table of what was requested vs. what was provided), and Integrity proof (the SHA-256 head hash of the event chain).
What is the PDF export?
The PDF is a formatted version of the record suitable for inclusion in a case file, email attachment, or direct submission to a refund bank. It includes all four record sections and the integrity hash at the foot of the document.
What is the shareable link?
A tokenized URL that gives the recipient read-only access to the record in a web view. No login is required. The link shows the same four sections as the in-app record view. Share it with a refund bank adjudicator or include it in dispute correspondence.
How do I revoke a shareable link?
From the case detail page, find the active share link and click "Revoke." The link will immediately stop working. You can generate a new one at any time.
What does 'integrity proof' mean?
The integrity hash is the SHA-256 hash of the last event in the chain, which itself contains the hash of the event before it, and so on back to the first event. This means the hash encodes the entire history. If any event was altered, deleted, or inserted, the hash would be different. A reviewer can independently recompute the chain from the raw events and verify the head hash matches the one in the record.
Is the generation of the record itself logged?
Yes. Each record view and PDF export is logged as an event on the chain. This means the record itself documents when it was generated and reviewed — which is also useful for chargeback defense.
